Suited to breeds with double coats

Built for icy water, a Lab's double coat is poorly matched to a 40° Aussie arvo. Unlike us, dogs don't sweat through their skin. They cool down mainly by panting and by resting on cool surfaces, which lets heat escape from their thinly-furred bellies. For best results, set the mat somewhere shaded or breezy, like on tiles, in a hallway or beneath a fan.

Care instructions

• Between washes, shake out the mat or brush off any loose fur.
• Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water (30°C max) with mild detergent.
• Skip the bleach and fabric softener. Softener leaves a film on the fibres and takes away the cool feel.
• Hang to dry on a line, out of direct sun. Never tumble dry, iron or dry clean.
• For muddy paw marks, spot clean with a damp cloth.
• This isn't meant for chewing. Keep an eye on any dog that likes to gnaw on their bedding.
